The first city to host the Olympic games outside of North America and Europe, often referred to as the "sporting capital of Australia", this city is home to many of Australia's major annual sporting and cultural events. Said to be starkingly different from its sibling Sydney that offers the grand historical sights like Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, or the Harbour Bridge, Melbourne as some put it, require one to scratch the surface a little further to appreciate. Here are some popular things to do in Melbourne:
Luna Park
A historic, traditional amusement park with one of the oldest roller coaster rides in the world. It is very quiet in the mornings and is a perfect time to visit to avoid the crowds!
St. Kilda Pier
A favourite destination for promenading, fishing, excursions or simply passing time. Just a few steps and you’ll be walking through the Esplanade filled with restaurants and kids playing and doing just whatever under the sun!
Brighton Bathing Boxes
A stretch of beach huts on Dendy Street Beach in Brighton, Victoria. One can never take a bad picture here!
